SBHS School Counseling Mission Statement:

The mission of the SBHS Counseling Program is to empower every student to be self-advocates by providing a comprehensive and equitable curriculum through individual planning and responsive services. We build connections in order to teach students the necessary skills to be independent & responsible for their academic success, college & career planning, & personal/social well-being.


General Appointment Times:
Monday - Friday
8am - 3:30pm


*Important* The Counselors office and services are always available for emergency or urgent needs. Please let Mrs. Otero-Garcia or other office staff know that you need to see a counselor immediately.

La misión del Programa de Consejería SBHS es capacitar a todos los estudiantes a ser auto-defensores, proporcionando un plan de estudios completo y equitativo a través de la planificación individual y servicios de respuesta. Construimos conexiones con el fin de enseñar a los estudiantes las habilidades necesarias para ser independiente y responsable de su éxito académico, la universidad y la planificación de carrera, y el bienestar personal / social.

The School Counselors and College & Career Center assist students by providing information and guidance pertaining to college admissions, college entrance requirements, testing, scholarships, financial aid and the completion of college applications. Career planning for all students is emphasized through​ counseling presentations and through CaliforniaColleges.edu surveys and lessons.

The counselors assist students and their families with high school educational planning and programming to ensure that students have an appropriate secondary education and graduate from SBHS in a timely manner. In addition counselors helps students in selecting coursework that supports their post-secondary choices, educational and vocational.

The counselors assist students by providing support and guidance to improve school performance. Counselors are available on a daily basis to discuss personal concerns with students. Our goal is for all students to have multiple trusted adults on campus.
