National Honor Society
NHS recognizes Freshmen (spring semester), Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who achieve excellence in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. You must show examples of your excellence in ALL four areas. A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA is required to qualify. Any semester citizenship grade of "U" disqualifies a student from membership. Remember, you are always qualifying and completing your membership for the previous semester.

National Honor Society Lifetime Award– Red Cord: Student must have a 3.0 district grade point average (GPA) for at least 5 semesters, including one semester of the senior year, as well as good citizenship and character. *If you are a senior, you need to complete your membership for at least one semester during your senior year: Fall or Term 3*
California Scholarship Federation
CSF Membership is based on scholarship and is gained after qualifying grades are earned each semester in grades 10-12. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements using List I, II, & III. Term 1 and Term 2 will combine to determine eligibility for Fall. Term 3 and Term 4 will combine to determine eligibility for Spring. For Seniors only: Term 3 (5 points) will be used to determine Senior year Spring eligibility. Summer school courses (including online and college courses) may NOT be used for CSF membership. Remember, you are always qualifying and completing your membership for the previous semester.

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Seal Bearer– Gold Cord: Student must receive ten (10) points each semester for 4 semesters in grades 10 through 12. *If you are a senior, you need to complete your membership for at least one semester during your senior year Fall or Term 3*
Point System: Points are awarded based on A = 3 points and B = 1 point. Additional 1 point can be awarded to Honors, AP, and SBCC courses (maximum of 2 points per semester). At least 4 points must be earned in List I and at least 7 points must be earned between List I & II. Students qualify when they earn a total of 10 points between List I, II, & III. Physical Education/Sports, Teacher's Aide, and Office Aide classes do not count.

Please be sure to pay for ONLY for the honor society you received a qualifying email for and want to join. If you received an email for both NHS & CSF, then you will have to pay for each of them. There are no refunds.
