Bridging high school to life’s next chapter with confidence and independence.
The Bridges Program is a partnership between the SBUSD and the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation that supports eligible students with disabilities, between the ages of 16–22, as they transition from high school to vocational training, postsecondary education, and/or the workforce. This voluntary, student-driven program combines individualized and group support to help participants explore careers, build work-readiness skills, and gain paid Work Experience opportunities. Bridges also nurtures social-emotional growth by strengthening time management, organization, and self-advocacy skills. With mentorship, family involvement, community/agency partnerships, and real-world learning, the program empowers students to develop confidence, independence, and resilience—equipping them to thrive in their next chapter.
